He later sought peace with his fiancée Yulia until Jagi manipulated Shin, a rival from the Nanto Koshuken school, to defeat him. Shin engraved seven scars on Kenshiro's chest in the shape of the Big Dipper before leaving him for dead. While once forgiving, as seen when he killed Jagi after a failed assassination attempt, Kenshiro became merciless against old rivals like Shin and Raoh. Between encounters with his brothers, Toki focused on healing without pain, whereas Raoh sought to become the 'Conqueror of the Century's End' by ruling the wasteland with an iron fist.
In Their Own Story
The initial arc follows Kenshiro's quest to reclaim Yulia from Shin. He is joined by two orphans: Bat, a thief, and Lin, a young girl he rescued. Together, they protect innocent survivors from gangs roaming the wasteland. Years later, Kenshiro reunites with a grown-up Bat and Lin, who have formed the Hokuto Army to fight corrupt Gento Kōken warriors. The journey takes him back to the Land of Asura, where he learns of his heritage as Hokuto Sōke and battles warlords Hyoh and Kaioh. After defeating Raoh and reuniting with Yulia—who eventually dies from radiation sickness, though her life was extended by Raoh's intervention—Kenshiro takes in Raoh's orphaned son, Ryu. Following the defeat of Kaioh, he continues alone, having sealed humanity's future.
